What the desktop app adds

Terminals

Real shells, in the workspace

Full pseudo-terminals, not an emulation. Interactive tools behave exactly as they do in iTerm, because to them nothing is different.

Agents

Coding agents that run locally

Start an agent in a project folder on your own disk. It reads and writes your files directly — no uploading a codebase to somebody's cloud sandbox.

Browser

A browser beside the work

Open a preview or a doc as a tab in the same window. Sessions persist, so you sign in once.

Your machine

The whole stack runs local

Database, storage, and services all start with the app and stop with it. Nothing about a project has to leave the laptop.

Getting started

Three steps, and the app keeps itself current after that.

01

Open the disk image and drag Miito to Applications

The usual macOS install. Nothing else to configure.

02

First launch only: right-click Miito, then choose Open

This build isn't notarised by Apple yet, so a double-click will refuse to open it and offer no way past. Right-click gives you an Open button that does. You only do this once.

03

Sign in with your Cypress account

The same account you use on the web. Your projects are already there.

Updates arrive on their own

Fixes download in the background and apply the next time you open the app — usually a few hundred kilobytes rather than a new install. You will not be asked to download this page again.

Requirements

macOS

  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1 and newer)
  • About 500 MB of free disk space

Windows

  • Windows 10 (version 1809) or later
  • 64-bit x64 processor
  • About 500 MB of free disk space
  • No administrator rights needed — it installs for your user only

Both need a Cypress account.

It's a beta

This is early and it has rough edges. It is genuinely useful today, which is why we're handing it out — but expect bugs, and expect them to be fixed quickly.
